Jón Sigurðsson is a seasoned concert pianist and educator. His degrees include a Master of Music in piano performance from Arizona State University, as well as a Final Exam and Teacher's Diploma from the Conservatory of Reykjavík.  He has also finished accompaniment studies at Sigurður Demetz School of Singing and been involved in the Funktionale Methode.  He has studied with Helga Laxness, Halldór Haraldsson, Erika Haase, Gerrit Schuil, and Caio Pagano and participated in master classes given by Ruth Slenczynska, Edith-Picht Axenfeld and Roger Woodward.  He has an active career in solo performance and has accompanied both instrumentalists and singers in many concerts.  In year 2005 Polarfonia Classics issued a CD where Jón Sigurðsson performs works by various composers including Scriabin and Barber.

July 2006, Musical Moment at Gljúfrasteinn, Mosfellsbær, Iceland. Works by Mozart, Strauss, Bach, and Rossi.

June 2006, Nordic House, Reykjavík four-hand piano recital with Margaret Cheng Tuttle. Works by Mozart, Bizet, and Kevin Olson.

April 2006, accompanist for Chamber Choir of Reykjavík in an all Icelandic program.

March 2006, four-hand piano recital in Boston with Margaret Cheng Tuttle. Works by Bach, Mozart, and Bizet.

September-November 2005, duo recitals with pianist Þórarinn Stefánsson in Akureyri, Mosfellsbær, and Höfn. Works by Schubert, Barber, Debussy, and Poulenc.

July 2005, new CD with piano works by Rossi, Barber, Scriabin, Bernofsky and Moszkowski.

June 2005, solo recital in The American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis. Works by Mozart, Liszt, Bernofsky, Rossi, and Schumann. Supporters of this recital were Scandinavian Hjemkomst Festival, Icelandair, North Dakota Council on the Arts and Icelandic Communities Association (Cavalier, ND).

June 2005, 28th Scandinavian Hjemkomst Festival in Fargo, North Dakota and Moorhead, Minnesota.

March 2004, soloist in Beethoven's third Piano Concerto Op. 37 with S.Á. Orchestra under Tryggvi M. Baldvinsson.

April 2003, organized the music festival, Music Without Borders in Reykjavík where students from the Reykjavik area worked with the American composers Lauren Bernofsky and Wynn-Anne Rossi and performed their works in Ýmir Music Hall, Reykjavík.

January 2003, bassoon-piano recital in Reykjavík with Kristín Mjöll Jakobsdóttir.

August 2002, recital in a Summer Festival of Akureyri.

March 2002, trio music in Vopnafjörður and Þórshöfn, Iceland with Magnea Árnadóttir, flute and Ásdís Arnardóttir, cello.

February 2002, Icelandic Embassy in Washington D.C. where Jón Sigurðsson and Árni Sighvatsson performed songs by the Icelandic composer Sigvaldi Kaldalóns.

December 2001, soloist with S.Á. orchestra in Beethoven's first Piano Concerto Op. 15 under Ingvar Jónasson.
